I ENTIRELY AGREE with Gary Neville, and do hereby add that Louis Van Gaal threw away a win, because of his own conservative approach of wanting to be a diplomat in an arena bulls not cows. He only stands up to celebrate goals, but he cannot get up even once to guide and give the players the required confidence, something which is making the team very dull and confused in approach. For instance, never at any one moment did I see the aggressive character and spirit of Eric Cantona Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand or Rooney himself. In Angelo Dimaria and Falcao, I could see the return of DB7 or CR7. In Van Gaal I couldnt see any Sir Alex Ferguson nor could see any trace of Carlos Quiroz in Ryan Giggs. On the pitch I couldnt see any reminiscent of Jap Stam, Rio Ferdinand, Edwin Van or Peter S. All stupid decision by the referee and the liners went unquestioned as if they were working for Liverpool which had already dropped points the previous day. Both the Manager and his Assistant have become diplomats too early. This is the EPL, it is never won by diplomats, but rather aggressive managers and players who must bully around their opponents right from mind games to the pitch. The only problem I had with Sir Alex Fergusons was failure plan his succession which has cost us this much, otherwise, he had both good game plan and reading at all times. He excelled at both on and off the pitch tactics. He was tactically very strong, and in fact stronger than any Manager of the EPL during his time. He was the only manger who destroyed the so called unbeaten record, stopped Chelsea from defending the EPL a third time. Manchester City could only afford to take it on goal difference, and he had left. Many would complain about United getting penalties free kicks as well as earning red cards to the opponents, but all this was his tactical input into the players. The bully nature exhibited by Eric Cantona or Roy Keane were all necessary winning tactics to dislodge the opponents game plan. The impenetrable or rough midfield of Roy Kean, Paul Aaron Scholes, Phil Nevill and Nick Butt, were all thought of a tactical manager who had assigned each player a significant and separate roles on the pitch. The overlapping style by Evra was simply to beef up the offensive attacks, in addition to keeping away the opponents far as well denying them any chance of benefiting from a dead ball situation or reaping big from other possible mistakes. The Center back force of Ferdinand and Vidic was meant to shield the keep keeper from the marauding attack of the opponets . Besides Ferguson, ensured that the Keeper understood very well the defenders movements. To contrary, what I have seen in the last few games seem to suggest the return of an era of David Moyes, the man who shattered all our treasured records and winning formula. Just like Moyes, Van Gaal has also decided to see it all happen during the game, and wait to make inappropriate press statements. At the press conference of the last game I heard him blaming the players, but where was he to defend them even if it meant getting suspended. We have seen managers winning game from the stands while serving their suspension, and if am not mistaken, the Leicester manager was in the stands. A few days ago Diego Simione won against Real Madrid while in the stands. In saying this, I dont mean to condone indiscipline, but taking a little bit of a risk is what upholds the mental character of the team like Manchester United with motto: We shall never say die. I think he has delved too much into tactical discipline which has withdrawn the players aggressiveness. Am of the considered view that he act dynamically and embrace all the necessary components such as tactical discipline, tactical ability, both mental and physical strength. Leicester took away 2 penalties, which is a clear sign of their tactical ability. Leicester made hard tackles in the shadow of the Ref and the liners, that is nothing, but tactical discipline. injure him, but the Ref wont see it instantly. Our players like Rafael could easily be shoved off the ball, that is nothing, but a clear lack of strength (physical strength). The Ref allowed a ball to be collected from outside which brought about Leicesters the first goal without any contest from the players or the manager and his technical bench, that is a sign of fear in disguise of being a diplomat. In conclusion, Van Gaal had better realize that his transfer policy has cost the club huge sums of money on purchasing new players, therefore, there is no reason for him to begin feeling the comfort of the Managerial seat before delivering to the level of Manchester United.
