I HAD A FIRST TODAY.... I got to go duck hunting!...Thursday night at the premier party at the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival, the nicest young southern gentleman helping with sales, was talking with me. He said he and a friend were going duck hunting Monday and asked me if I wanted to go along for reference material....I jumped at the chance...I met Mr. Carlton Ogletree and Mr. Colby Melton at 5:30 this morning...I dont do 5:30 in the morning very well, but I made it...These two young men drug a boat from the back of the truck for me to sit in. They both had waders on. Next thing I knew they were dragging me, perched in the boat, to the perfect spot just before sun rise. In just a few minutes we heard the wood duck slap the water as they left their roost. After a few expert calls, Colby called them in and the action began....It was a fantastic experience that I very much enjoyed, that will also help me express the feeling of a hunt into my paintings. It was so much fun watching these two young hunters work the ducks and shoot with such precision and see their passion...Thank you guys...I will always remember your generosity for taking this old lady out to your favorite hunting spot and giving me the experience of a duck hunt. I cant wait to start painting...
