I HAVE to share this tragic and unjustified event that ripped our last dog (out of 11!) so brutally out of our family. I realize that, to some people, Josie was only a dog. But to Astrid & I she was a very big part of our lives for ten years! She was the kind of friend, that always knew that you had a rough day and wanted to comfort you with her paw and head on ur knee and she would look at you with her its gonna be alright look that warm your heart and put a smile on ur face, even just for a second..she just made u feel good! She was our baby! On Tuesday morning everything changed. Josie got out of the house, (and we have to live with that terrible guilt of OUR neglect of keeping her safe) and was hit by a West Monroe police patrol car. our security video plainly shows the accident...(yes, at that point it was an accident) What followed makes it a heartless, heart wrenching, unbelievable and very hard to watch and believe is that cop car turned around to see what he had hit and saw our Josie in the water filled ditch with her back broken, fighting for her life ! And what did he do??? Drove off. I want to ask everybody for your opinion! and i am laying it out there: 1. Is it to much to ask from the officer to knock at our door and tell us about the accident? Josie might of been still alive or most defiantly would have not suffered for 6 hours !!! And would have spared our daughter the horrifying discovery of her friend in the ditch? I know that a police officer has a most important job, to protect and serve and we are always grateful for all that they do to help.... But THIS COULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED A DIFFERENT WAY. Or is my judgement blinded by my sadness and anger? I am simply pissed off!! All we want is an apology or an some sort of Acknowledgment that they hurt us! Is that to much to ask ? Here is the video.. Caution ..
