I JUST FOUND OUT I WAS 100 METRES AWAY FROM A PLACE WHERE THEY HAD - TopicsExpress

I JUST FOUND OUT I WAS 100 METRES AWAY FROM A PLACE WHERE THEY HAD SHOT A SCENE IN HARRY POTTER IN LONDON. LIKE, WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL? After we visited Trafalgar Square (I just had to go there because all the actors had been there), we walked down a long road all the way to Big Ben because we could see it when we sat on/near the fountains. Anyway, while we walked down the road, there was this really cool looking place that I just had to go into because there was a guard and my dad just had to take a picture with him (He was smiling so it was okay). It just looked cool. I cant explain why I walked in there, but there was something about it. We walked through two gates and on the back it looked like those places in old films where people from medieval times duelled etc. Anyway, 100 metres away from the building, a scene had been shot. Was I aware of this back then? Absolutely not. Am I sad? Yes. The scene that was shot there was the one in DHP1 where Harry and Ron had to flush themselves down the toilet. And I swear to God, as I was walking down that road, I remember thinking something was really familiar with that road. I didnt know what, but apparently my Potterhead brain just recognised it somehow. A couple of months ago, I found out that I had, on my last day in London, been 3 minutes away from where they filmed the scene when Hagrid knocks on the wall with his umbrella and it opens up and reveals Diagon Alley. Im not too sad about that one, because its just a dark alleyway, and wouldnt even have been that cool to see, but still! I have been to places where Harry Potter scenes were filmed, though. For example, the Westminster station is the station in OOTP that Arthur and Harry walk through when theyre on their way to the Ministry. I knew as soon as I got there that this was the place where Arthur and Harry had been, because I remembered the scene in my head etc. So that was really cool! Fun fact: While I was on an escalator there, I saw a Daniel Radcliffe West End poster and gently stroked it with my hand as the escalator kept going down. My mum and dad thought I was mad, but I dont care. Ive never WALKED on it, but we took a boat tour that started near Big Ben/London Eye and during the tour, we went under the Millennium Bridge which is the bridge the Death Eaters destroy in Half-Blood Prince. I actually had my Narcissa Malfoy wand in my 9 3/4 bag as it happened, which was cool! I remember thinking RUN, PEOPLE! RUN! because everyone ran while it fell in the film. XD Theres a building called City Hall, and its right next to the bridge, and its the building all the people stared out of in the film when the Death Eaters attacked it. I managed to get a picture of that building, too! As I said above, Ive been to Trafalgar Square where the last Harry Potter premiere was held. That was really cool! And the National Art Gallery is gigantic and I got lost there and had to find my way out to my parents, which was fun. I also secretly tried to take pictures there, because you werent allowed to, but I didnt care. :D And lastly, Ive been to Kings Cross Station. IT WAS AWESOME. I had to queue up to take a picture, but it was fun!! I was a bit annoyed, though. Ill have to admit that. My parents kept running off as I was getting closer, and they werent ready with their phones out and I was scared Id lose my chance of having a picture taken. I didnt want to pay for a professional photo, as it was 8 pounds, I think? Which could have been spent on better things. WORST. DECISION. EVER. 100 % of the pictures my parents took of me turned out to be really blurry, and Im still really disappointed, and Ive said that I WILL visit the place again if I go to London again. Anyway, I asked a woman at the reception Do you know where platform 9 and 3/4 is? because it was going to be the best question I had ever asked in my entire life. I had no idea the best question I was going to ask in my life was going to be to J. K. Rowling herself, though! Anyway, it was cool and the shop was really awesome! I opened up a lot of wand boxes and forgot to take pictures of the place because I was so excited. :( Thats basically my long story. Ill post some blurry and bad pictures in the comments. xD - Amicus
