I KILL IN THE NAME OF ATHEISM - has really yet to be said, I think. No, not a diss on religion, just someone using the ATHEISTS KILL PEOPLE TOO! defence. Which is true, very true. Just not in the name of atheism, which, I think, is an important point when talking about the kinda crazies who kill in the name of religion. Everyday, people are killing people, but it takes a certain type to justify that killing on the grounds of Godliness. Most people who do that, we lock in certain institutes for treatment - I remember one case where a mother killed her kids and said Jesus told her to do so. It was a frightfully sad case. I think it must be recognised that people killing in the name of religion these days, may embody some of the more fundamental and frankly outdated beliefs and practices of the religion, but should not be taken as the yardstick of religion as a whole - though it is reflective of the issues within religious groups that do need to be addressed openly and exhaustively.
