I LOVE MY MOM !! :-) I spent a great morning with my Mom. I know I don’t talk about her as much as I use to, but these days are quiet days with her. My Mom is turning 90 this year so her voice is more of a whisper and her memories are there and they appear as a great smile on her face. She is very tired lately and falls asleep quite often. Her appetite is small and she will sample things. Today I held her hand and then rubbed it as she fell in and out of sleep – but every time she would wake up she would have that great smile on her face and then squeeze my hand a little bit to let me know she was there and just enjoying our time together. We did have some great snacks that she nibbled on AND some coffee I brought from the local 24/7 convenience store – so it was coffee, tapioca and cupcakes – what more could anybody want. I will not let sadness rule my days with her because it will waste precious time that I can enjoy with her – but often I get very down because she is my Mom and my best friend, and rock of Gibraltar – but she still is my Mom, but now it is my turn to be all of that and more to her. Age is not something that should be considered as any sort of deterrent as far as it concerns our elderly friends and family. Instead it should be celebrated in a manner to embrace their last days of life with us. So many of the elderly spend so much time alone and their world becomes so small. Friends, relatives, etc., will always voice a concern as to her health or how she is doing – well my opinion to that is, take a little time and visit her and find out – she is still a person and would love even the tiniest bit of love and attention. She is and always was a great woman that treated everybody with love, friendship and respect – she is a Mom through and through and that is an amazing thing to be – and a lifelong career!
