I LOVED Obamas speech tonight. I believe in it and wholeheartedly agree. Many of these immigrants have been working over a number of years doing terribly difficult jobs...the kind of jobs that most Americans wouldnt ever think of taking. Doing it for very low pay, and somehow managing to raise families and build a life in the meantime. How can the government just up and throw them out? Documents or not? They are contributing to our farming/ landscaping/ all the things we as Americans depend on to survive as a society, and our reaction is to rip them from their families, throw them in jail, and send them back home with nothing but the shirts on their backs? Not only is this an utterly inhumane reaction, but it also eats up our tax money. Every person that is deported is thousands and thousands of dollars out of OUR pockets. I truly hope Obama gains more support on this. Its right and true and clearly a logical step towards change. X
