I NEED EVERY ONES OPINION ON WHAT I HAVE COME UP WITH ON SENDING TO THE MEDIA. My 6 month old daughter was diagnosed with infant leukemia. Only 3 in MN diagnosed per year or 90 per 4 million in the US. I have been researching American Cancer Society since my daughter only has a 47% survival and considering they our a huge non-profit organization with almost 1 billion in revenue you would think she would have a higher %. They claim there main goal/focus is cancer. After going through all of there W2S its clear there main focus is NOT cancer. 923,988,329 total revenue - 577,000,000 employee salary/benefits ----------------------------- $346,988,329 - 203,033,911 fundraising//advertising --------------------------- $143,954,418 nation wide cancer research - 4,069,770 outside of US --------------------------- $139,884,648 ( 12.28%) goes to ALL US cancer research I have all of the facts straight from the organization. The services they provide for cancer patients is Hope Lodge which is for people 50 miles from clinic. They recently pulled all of there grants for the camps for children with cancer. Article from Idaho mountain express Idaho March 27, 2013 A recent Rainbow Gold news release states that the American Cancer Society recently conducted a comprehensive analysis of its programs, services and fundraising initiatives “in an effort to maximize the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness in fighting cancer.” According to the release, the analysis resulted in the society’s “very difficult but strategic decision” to phase out its funding of camp and college scholarship programs that support activities such as Rainbow Gold. Article from Seattle news July 29, 2013 Earlier this year, the American Cancer Society, which has provided funding and administrative services for the camp and 39 others like it nationwide, quietly announced they will discontinue its support for the camps. And when we say quietly, that means no press statement or even a phone call to the organizers. Article from KOMO news June 18, 2014 Camp leaders found out in 2013 that theyd no longer receive funding for the following year. The American Cancer society made a difficult decision to shift resources from childrens camps to research and public policy programs, said Kimberly Dinsdale, a media relations manager for the organization. sources komonews/news/local/Kids-cancer-camp-loses-funding-seeks-ways-to-stay-afloat-263741001.html?mobile=y mtexpress/index2.php?ID=2005146668#.VFU_sFko5Dt seattleweekly/home/947910-129/camp-cancer-kids-goodtimes-says-week cancer.org/aboutus/whoweare/financialinformation/index
