I NEED to VENT, RANT, RAVE and whatever else I can think of!!!! Ok. So yesterday MICROSOFT pulled the plug on support for WINDOWS XP. This is a version of Windows used primarily by businesses. No support opens up a security risk. Coincidentally, I was HACKED and my Product Key for Windows7 was stolen. Without the product key my version of Windows 7 was deemed bootleg. Turned on my laptop. Screens kept freezing, so I tried to restart. Then a MICROSOFT security program was auto installed to validate key. Since the product key was wiped out, I am dead in the water. After 45 mins with HP, and 4.5 hours with MICROSOFT support, and addition virus scans... 9.5 HOURS later, my laptop, purchased Nov, 2012 is virtually useless. HP says call Microsoft who says call HP. Finally I got Microsoft to take a look. Sorry, your product key was never activated. Click here, here, put in product key and it will work. Me: ok will try... Umm this doesnt work. Him: let me check the key. Oh, I show this key has already been activated so it is not valid for you. Me: Let me get this straight.. Windows7, pre-installed / activated by HP, running perfectly since 11/2012 became bootleg on 04/08/2014. Him: that is what all my tools say. Me: transfer me to someone else. Amy finally found the virus/malware loaded on my laptop in a place where no anti virus software can remove it. What to do now? Pay either MICROSOFT or HP or my local computer tech 250.00 to store my data, clean the laptop, reinstall Windows7; then...negotiate with eValue Software and Norton for a new copy of MSOffice 198.00 and Norton Anti Virus 119.00. I am soooo ready to go on a rampage!!! But there is nowhere or no one to attack because laptop ordered direct from HP and software purchases, etc. were downloads from the company. Add insult to injury.. My external HD with 600GB of storage only works up to Windows 2003 and Windows XP!!! Pissed off to the highest PISSIFICATION!!!
