I REALLY, really like this. BUT, I like it because powering through can simply mean barely clinging. That often leads to the building of our endurance. There are times in life when we have nothing but a mere glimmer of hope to grasp. It may take ALL THE COURAGE we can muster to do nothing more than cling to our faith during desperate times and hold on to the One who holds us. Yet, so often today, we believe powering through is plowing through immediately with the intention of conquering and resolving the mountains we face quickly to keep moving on. And, we prefer to do it our way: quickly, painlessly, and with as little inconvenience as possible. The truth is, that may not be the best for us, as we can overlook valuable lessons and not allow our circumstances and life lessons to mold and shape us well. Endurance builds character. It changes us. Challenges make us stronger. Consider body building for a moment. Comfort doesnt strengthen a muscle group and cause it to change shape. Resistance is what does this. One push up is likely to change little. And if you power through your workout too quickly, the very thing that can build you, shape you, and prepare you for whats ahead, may not have the time to build and shape you as you need. You cant rush the workout that develops, strengthens and equips you. Powering through can be the opposite. I know from experience that powering through can be slow, soft and subtle. Powering through requires so much patience! Sometimes that waiting makes me want to stomp my feet in frustration, but I have to remind myself that endurance is what strengthens and causes me to stop relying upon myself. It causes me to look at God and experience who He is in ways that I just cannot learn otherwise. The breakthroughs come when I realize powering through has nothing to do with me and my abilities. I learn to survive my circumstances when I remove myself, give up control, and surrender to Gods plans instead of my own. Power can be discovered through weakness and uncertainty as our character is developed in those seasons, and like it or not, that takes time. Powering through at times is the equivalent of a slow simmer. We cant rush it. Endurance needs time. Our greatness moments of strength are discovered in our moments of greatest weakness as we realize its not our strength at work at all, but rather Our Fathers strength at work in us. Powering through often means seeking the Lord and allowing Him access to our lives. Hell continue His work in us as we patiently endure our circumstances without fretting over our perceived time limits for conquering what ails us. Can we resolve to power through by enduring patiently? THINK . . .
