I Recognized my Mistake Apologized Brothers and sisters, I - TopicsExpress

I Recognized my Mistake Apologized Brothers and sisters, I have recognized the fact that the previous report that I posted on Dr. Victor Willoughby was incorrect and an hour or so later, I apologized and provided the latest update. However, I feel disappointed by the reaction of some people who think the offense is unpardonable. I have written over 60 stories since the outbreak of the Ebola epidemic and have got only two wrong! Brothers and sisters, I did not think the mistake should warrant people to insinuate that I am celebrating people’s death and I am wishing people to die. This comment is a sign of lack of appreciation for my efforts in relaying pieces of information on the tragedy unfolding in our country. I worked as a journalist in Sierra Leone for ever ten years before leaving the media. Even as practicing journalists we make mistakes. I cannot recall the number of times that we came out with “corrigendums” to apologize for mistakes in our editions. Like Sheikh Kandeh Suaray had mentioned, big media houses also do make mistakes but they are still operating. Some people have directed attacks at me out of malice and I could sense some negative sentiments from other commentators. I know there is so much bad heart and lack of appreciation in our country. Pilots who make errors and crash down killing are their passengers have not been crucified. Drivers cause accidents out of driving errors on daily basis. Political leaders make mistakes and apologize. Anyway, I am joining you in the silence. Let us all behave as if nothing is happening in our country. I can rest assure you that most of the stories you have been reading from me will not be covered by other journalists who are only interested in news events relating to the elitist class. This is my last post on this Ebola tragedy. I am going underground and remain silent. Once more, I apologize. I am done with Ebola reports. Bye
