I Squire Mesreth the Overachiever do hereby formally declare for Kingdom Monarch with Sir Matthias OLachon as Kingdom Regent. Our major focus will be to help increase the Fun and Enjoyment of Amtgard in the Kingdom of the Desert Winds. We believe that people play Amtgard to have fun and if they are having fun, they will want to play more. We believe that an individuals excitment level about attending a given Park day or Kingdom Event directly correlates to their belief in how fun that Day or Event will be -- we believe a higher excitement level translates to a higher likelihood of attending, and that more attendance also translates to a more fun Day / Event. We believe this is Key to increasing attendance and retention in individual Parks as well as in the Kingdom. We also believe that as Fun is increased, that drama and complaints will be reduced. To this end, we will accomplish this primarily through the following things: - Development and teaching of new Battlegames - Teaching Battlegame development and theory through classes, documentation, and monthly kingdom battlegames - Each month developing and deploying a Kingdom Battlegame to be played at least once at the local park level - In conjunction with the Kingdom Battlegame, Parks will be able to compete with each other based on attendance to battlegame participation ratios for the day they play the Battlegame and based on improvement of overall Park attendance from the previous months park day that the Kingdom Battlegame was played. - Devlopment of a Battlegame Book that current and future leadership can add to and draw from for battlegames - Increasing Role Playing and development of personal personas -- through integration in the Kingdom Battlegame and through instructional classes and material on all the available tools associated to RP - Making Kingdom Events more accessible by making as many as possible overnight events (which in turn makes the event more practical and worth spending the gas and travel time to attend). Specific Kingdom Events currently planned: - Kingdom Midreign in early August -- This will be an overnight camping event; will integrate Dragon Master / Weapon Master, Battlegames, Feast, Court, expected to cost less than $7.50 per person (target is $5 or less) -- Day tripping will also be possible for those interested as the main activities will only take place on Saturday. - Kingdom End Reign / Coronation in late November -- This will be an overnight INDOOR event held at Castle of Chaos. This event will host a competitive team format a la Faction Wars: Up to 10 person teams, competing in an Iron Man A&S portion, a Main Dish meal cookoff, and a competitive 5 person tournament style battlegame competition. This event also has a target cost of $7.50 or less (shooting for $5 or less) and will also be able to be day-tripped. Clan 2014: Currently, the only known topic of discussion for vote is the V8 rule set, though I am certain additional items will be added to the agenda as we approach. While both Matthias and myself are strong supporters of new rules system, we understand that not everyone shares our views. I will be putting out a feedback poll for ALL of the Clan agenda items (as I have previously done for the V8 ruleset). I will use this feedback in determining how I vote. If the kingdom overwhelmingly feels a particular way concerning an item (such as V8), I will vote the way the Kingdom wishes. Most people know that I am fairly thorough, and my polls will inquire about various options / alternatives to specific topics -- it has been my limited experience that often items that come up for vote are changed some during discussion to accommodate / resolve concerns. Matthias and I are also planning to attend a number of events hosted by other Kingdoms (particularly Kingdoms that border ours) in an effort to increase and strengthen relations with those Kingdoms, as well as to learn a little of how they run things (and then try to incorporate those good things into our own Kingdom). We hope that this will result in increased opportunities for our Kingdom, an increase in attendance to our larger events, and an overall betterment of our Kingdom. Matthias and I are excited to serve you as Regent and King for the Summer 2014 Reign. We understand that we will probably make mistakes, but we make you the promise that we will do our best to fulfill our roles and accomplish our goals. We look forward to this summer.
