Jon Getz An Open letter to the Buffalo Bills and the National Football League. The county is currently under a state of emergency, according to the Erie County office. County officials are urging all residents in hard-hit areas to stay off the roads. A travel ban is in effect for the hardest hit areas, only allowing emergency vehicles through. Many roads are still closed, including 140 miles of Interstate 90. Orchard Park is in the heart of this disaster. Even the Governor has now said that to play the game on Sunday is impractical. News agencies are reporting 8 deaths. People are truly suffering. I propose that the NFL assist these stoic folks in any way that the league may be able to. I also propose that common sense prevail and the game between the Bills and the Jets be postponed. To ask for 500 people to risk their lives, and break the law, to shovel out a stadium is nonsensical. It is also a tremendous waste of valuable resources at a time when these fine folks need help. Please, again, NFL, use some common sense. The Fans and all of the people of Western New York deserve such common sense be used, to say the least.
