I WANT TO BE FAMOUS! How many of us have had or have this desire in our life? Oh to be the rock star, the politician, the movie star, the TV actor, the author, the doctor, the scientist, the weather girl, the preacher…………………the lottery winner…. And then of course, this discussion would not be complete without mention of those famous for “bad “ things, or criminals – or those thrust into sudden infamy by tragic events, like George Zimmerman, or Amanda Berry to name a few. Of course no one wants to be them. If you were to have the ability to speak with a famous person from one of these categories, you might be surprised at what they may tell you. Is that the life they thought it would be? Do famous people indeed have a better life than the ordinary folk? But wait- they have lots of money, right? They can go anywhere and do anything they want to, right? You might be surprised how much that money holds them hostage from a lot of life. You might be surprised that the more money and the more fame, the more chains they have. I wonder, those that wish to be famous, if you could jump ahead and glimpse at what your life would be like, should you become famous – would you still have that desire? And in today’s news, we have Paula Deen…………………………but in today’s world, in an instant you can be famous for things you never imagined. One Word spoken by you in the hands of someone bent on doing you evil can truly set your life on fire. And this world that we live in promotes those flames and people offer more words on things they know nothing about to jump on the bandwagon to crucify you, beat you, take from you………….and if you have something they do not, the fire rages even more. Why do you think folks like all this social network – that’s what Facebook and You Tube are so popular – EVERYONE gets to be famous! One of the greatest lessons that we can take away from the Paula Deen Tragedy is the lesson about our mouths and the power of words. BE CAREFUL what comes out of that mouth of yours! The Lord tells us that the Power of life and death is in the tongue. With it, we can speak life over someone or something, or we can speak death. Words never die, but live on and on. Just as God spoke and the World came into existence – so too your words create things. Things that last forever. Today, I wish to encourage everyone to practice speaking words that give LIFE. NEVER be one of those that don’t think before you speak, or that join in the public crucifixion just because you think you agree with the Mob. The Mob might not be right! Just ask Jesus. The other side of that is to use your voice to fight injustice and put light on wrong. IF you truly believe that is what you are doing – do it with all the passion and gusto you have. Never be silent in the face of evil being perpetrated anywhere. As for Paula Deen – God will take care of this lady. But note what time and day it is……………..Yawl be good!
