I WANT TO DO CSS BUT ....... “The sole aim of my life is to do CSS. I can go to any extent in order to achieve it but the problem is that I cannot make up my mind to study properly for it.” “I want to be allocated in the civil service of Pakistan because it is the ultimate desire of my parents. I want to fulfill their desire as well but I do not know anything about it. So how can I even think of appearing in it?” “I have all the books, notes and the material to prepare for CSS exam but I cannot manage time to prepare any of the available stuff. I cannot find time either. Everything seems to bewilder and worry me.” “I have a good job but I also want to qualify CSS exam. I want to take both things together in tandem but I am unable to do so.” All of the above statements and many others similar to them are often found and witnessed among the CSS aspirants nowadays. Frankly speaking, it irks me when I listen to such kind of grousing and grumbling. I believe in only one thing. If you have got the passion and the yen to become a CSP, nothing can stop you; no hobbies, chores, extracurricular activities, serving your family and job can block your way from achieving your ultimate goal of being a civil servant of Pakistan. Things can definitely get tough with the passage of time if you endeavour to take and manage all the things together, e.g. job and CSS, but it is never impossible. Your dedication and devotion always keeps you on the right path. No worldly attraction can distract you. Using chores, your inner motivation level and dearth of guidance as lame excuses show that you have got only cold feet and nothing else. Be honest with yourself. In this age of internet, do you really think that there is a lack of guidance or stuff regarding CSS exam? I was flabbergasted when a person texted me a few days ago that he cannot read DAWN because he lives in a village. I was wondering that you can use facebook on mobile or on anything to contact me and you cannot read DAWN online? Yeah, right. Humor me. :/ Do not deceive yourself people. Moreover, your home chores or errands cannot stop you from studying either. It is true that the support of the family counts a lot but there are folks out there who run their errands in the day time and burn midnight oil to study just because their only dream is to be a CSP. Several aspirants came to me with the desire of seeking guidance in order to clear the CSS exam. When I asked them that whether they can sacrifice their educational careers or jobs for CSS or not, then after a brief hesitation, they answered in negative and some of them never even uttered a word about appearing in this exam. Majority of the times, I have noticed that people get reluctant when it comes to sacrificing their careers and hobbies in order to prepare for CSS but hey! That is what it takes. You cannot have the cake and the topping, too. I was sure about one thing since the very beginning of my preparation that I would exhaust my every single chance of being a CSP. Though I put all my eggs in my basket but I never feel ashamed or guilty over it because the exposure and the knowledge I gained from this exam has been priceless. One should make sure only one thing. A person should work his/her fingers to the bone and leave the rest to Allah. You might face many hurdles and obstacles in the preparation phase but that is all part of the game. Never be chicken hearted. Have any of you watched the flick “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”? If not, DO watch it. Be Milkha Singh! Even his body was not able to stop him from making his dreams come true. That is how the legends set precedents for ordinary souls like us. If you are doing it for yourself, exhaust your mind and body and beat all your limits of hard work. Just like WWE Wrestler, The Rock says; “Always make sure that you are the hardest worker in the room”. If you are doing it for your parents, keep them in your mind all the time, seek their blessings and whenever you feel a little bit down, just go over to them and ask them to pray for you. Recall all the sacrifices they made for you and consider it an obligation to compensate their sacrifices by becoming a CSP. Do not bemoan over petty issues like mismanagement of time, confusing syllabus, lack of time tables and guidance etc. When your enthusiasm is strong enough, literally nothing can impede you. You need to strengthen your heart and mind and once you make a decision, then stick to your guns. Do not listen to anyone’s discouraging and dispiriting comments and pieces of advice. Try your utmost best to seek guidance from the most reliable and competent sources, exhaust yourself while studying and utilize all the resources to make your dream come true. It is you and only you who can make your dreams come true and no one else. Just like the great sufi, Maulana Rumi said; “It’s your road, yours alone. Others may walk it with you but no one walk it for you”.
