I WANT YOU! Valentine Card Drive for O-H-I-O-Art Teachers 2014 I have been holding onto a dream for about a year of sending every art teacher in Ohio a Love Letter to thank them for their service to children and their community. Art teachers are creativity soldiers, innovation champions, pro tempore parents, and expressive angels to many. The work Art Teachers do every day has a far-reaching affect on the citizens of their community and the nation. Art Teachers contribute to the Creative Capitol of our nation…They keep the blah at bay. I would be tickled to collect 500 cards for Valentine’s Day. There are about 5,000+ art teachers in Ohio. It will be a great gesture if we pull this off. If we succeed, we can replicate this project and send at least 2,000 cards for the end of the school year. Please join me in this Love Event. Make, collect and distribute cards in your own community or send me three (3) cards in a mailer to me at the address below. Each card envelope should read “O-H-I-O Art Teacher Love”. If you decide to distribute cards, in your local community contact a school district (SD) HR office and ask if they could help you with getting the cards to the art teachers. In addition, your state PTO/PTA association would probably lend a hand. Also, check with the local Education Services Centers(ESCs). Most counties in Ohio have one. Remember, you do not know who will be receiving your card, so it is best to make sure that your card could be enjoyed by anyone. 3. Make the receiver feel loved by including three fun facts about you in your card: what state you live in, your favorite activity and what you hope to do in the future (i.e. I am from New Jersey, I love to paint, I want to be a doctor). 4. Be sure that the card is something that you would want to receive on Valentine’s Day! Remember, these are going to be tired and multi-tasking readers so make sure you write big and clear.—printed or typed cards are good 5.
