I WANT to congratulate Platinum Stars for putting up such a great fight to lift the MTN8 on Saturday. It was a tough match for both clubs and no one was willing to give up. Stars lifted the trophy in the end and well done to them. But politics at the club ruined what could have been a great sporting weekend for the team. I am very disappointed that I had to watch the final from the stands - not even from the bench. I had a great game against Al Ahly and the coach Roger de Sa told me that he was going to rest me against Kaizer Chiefs in the second leg of the MTN8 semifinal. I understood because at my age, I am not going to play all matches. We then went to Durban for the final and I was surprised when told not to get kitted on match day and given a VIP ticket. I do not blame the coach because I know it’s not his fault - there are other sinister forces behind this. The coach later explained the whole situation to me. This is not the first time this is happening to me. In 2010 under Ruud Krol, I led the team to the finals of the Telkom Knockout. I was dropped on the day of the final and Chiefs walloped us 3-0. Coach Krol explained to me later that some forces within the club told him to bench me. I am a big guy and I am used to such by now. I am hoping that the same does not happen again in the Caf Champions League. I played in all the matches from the start and that when the finals come, I will get relegated to the stands. Some people want to take the glory and pass it on to their friends. I have worked so hard for my achievements and it hurts to be treated like that after lifting all those trophies. Even the other supporters and my other teammates were surprised that I was on the stands. Those people are jealous that I am still playing at my age and now they want to destroy me. The club chairman Dr Irvin Khoza told me to cool off and I have set-up a meeting to discuss this issue with him. He’s the only person I can talk to and trust because he’s been like a father to me for all these years
