{ I WANTED A CAR, NOT A BIBLE} I was getting ready to graduate - TopicsExpress

{ I WANTED A CAR, NOT A BIBLE} I was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months I had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealers showroom, and knowing my father could well afford it, I told him that was all I wanted. As Graduation Day approached, I awaited signs that my father had purchased the car.. Finally, on the morning of my graduation, my father called me into his private study. My father told me how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told me how much he loved me. He handed me a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, I opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young mans name embossed in gold. Angrily, I raised my voice to my father and said, With all your money you give me a Bible? and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible. Many years passed and I was very successful in business. I had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realised my father was very old and thought perhaps I should go to him. I had not seen Him since that graduation day. But before I could make arrangements, I received a telegram telling Me my father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. I needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When I arrived at my fathers house, sudden sadness and regret filled My heart. I began to search through my fathers important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as I had left it years ago. With tears, I opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. My father had carefully underlined a verse, -Matt 7:11 , And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in Heaven, give to those who ask Him? As I read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealers name, the same dealer who had the sports car I had desired.. On the tag was the date of my graduation, and the words... PAID IN FULL and Collect your car within 2-days. (How many times do we miss Gods blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?)
