I. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT NOT BELIEVING IN GOD? Answer: FOOLISHNESS PSALM 14:1 The fool says in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. *Personal Thoughts: The verse above may mean two things: 1. Those who do not believe that God exists are indeed fools, those who lack the sense of understanding. We call them ATHEISTS. 2. The fools mentioned in the verse may pertain to those who do believe that God exists, know His commandments, yet reject His lordship and sovereignty over their lives. Even the demons believe in God and even shudder (James 2:19)! They are in direct and deliberate rebellion against Him. I call them SPIRITUAL REBELS. II. WHAT MAKES US BELIEVE THAT GOD EXISTS AND OBEY HIM? Answer: FAITH. HEBREWS 11:3,6 3By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. 6And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. *Personal Thoughts: It is by FAITH that we are fully convinced of Gods existence and His grace and love. By faith, we entrust our lives and salvation on Him! III. WHO GIVES US FAITH? Answer: GOD HIMSELF JOHN 6:44-45 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, And they will all be taught by God. Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me... *Personal Thoughts: -It is the Father who draws us to His Son. He has already chosen those who He knew before the foundation of the world will believe in Jesus. IV. HOW DO WE RECEIVE FAITH? Answer: BY HEARING THE GOSPEL ROMANS 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. *Personal Thoughts: We only have genuine faith when we have heard and understood the Gospel. Any belief in God which is not founded on the Truth of the Scripture is not saving faith. Have you known somebody, maybe one of your friends who is so persistent in sharing with you the Gospel? Well, he or she is Gods best gift for you this Christmas wrapped in His unconditional love! Listen to him or her, have Faith and accept Gods Gift of Salvation through JESUS!
