I WILL STICK WITH EL PUIG! CHICAGO TRIBUNE: White Soxs Jose Abreu could be major leagues next Cuban star - Team counting on slugging first baseman to lead franchise revival - By Paul Sullivan GLENDALE, Ariz. — White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu has been working out only a couple of hundred yards from the Dodgers complex at their shared facility at Camelback Ranch. But Abreu has yet to cross paths with former Cuban teammate Yasiel Puig, and he isnt going to push it. I havent had the opportunity to talk to him, Abreu said through an interpreter. Id love to when we have some time and he gives me the chance to, especially with us being from the same town, Cienfuegos. They could be the two biggest stars to come out of Cuba, if Abreu lives up to his hype. Puig, 23, defected in 2012, signed a seven-year, $42 million contract with the Dodgers and became an instant sensation after they called him up from the minors last June. He wound up with 19 home runs, 42 RBIs and a .925 OPS in 104 games, helping the Dodgers win the National League West and reach the NL Championship Series. chicagotribune/sports/ct-jose-abreu-cuba-spt-0309-20140309,0,5988980.story
