I WOULD like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned that lower Sindh has been facing an acute shortage of irrigation water, which is affecting standing crops. A vast number of farms in Tando Jan Mohammad are facing the permanent lack of water. Moreover, there is no potable water for the people, while animals too are dying for want of it. How cruel it is that people do not have any water to give a funeral bath to the dead. The non-availability of water has made people’s lives unbearable. The irrigation staff are aware of the problem but do not take any action in this regard. It is my appeal to the judiciary to take note of the sad situation and ensure adequate supply of canal water to save standing crops from drying up and reinstate the water supply to Tando Jan Mohammad town as well.
