I WROTE this post on March 22, 2014 about Aman Boring, who has scored 7.5, 7, 7.5 and 7 in the Academic test of 26 July 2014. On her way to attaining 7, out of the last 9 attempts, in the WRITING module, she has scored 7 ( four 7s and three 7.5s) 7 times, which is an amazing feat, as when she came to me, she had a score of 5 in Writing. Id like everyone, whether you are my student or not, to read the whole post. A MUST-READ for all my students: With 7, 7.5, 6.5 & 8.5, after falling short only in Writing again in the test held on 8 March 2014, one of my students texted this to me yesterday: Sir I am very unhappy with my score. I am frustrated..... I need ur advice on how to improve my writing Here is what I replied: I dont think you like and practise my structures much. Otherwise you cant score less than 7 in GT, as your grammar is pretty good. Aman Boring has scored 7.5 (in Academic Writing) in this test; she has failed in Speaking though. Her Writing scores are 7.5, 7 and 7.5 in the last 3 consecutive Academic tests. Do you know what is the reason behind her success in Writing despite her being poor in grammar? Her dedication towards my structures and vocabulary and my previous essays. You and Fahim as well as Sohil struggle a lot in Writing although you guys are much better than Aman only because you lack the above mentioned quality that she has. This is why I always say that buddhu people score earlier than smart ones in my coaching. NOW, For those who dont know Aman Boring: AMAN Boring came to me with a target of 6 in each module, which she overcame with little time. As she achieved her target of 6 pretty easily, she became ambitious. She came and asked me whether she could go for 7 in the Academic Module. As she studied Nursing in India, not only will 7 in Academic IELTS let her work as a Nurse, but it will also enhance her eligibility to get PR. I knew it was difficult for her to score 7, especially in the Academic test. However, being an experienced teacher (with nearly 15 years in this profession), ALHAMDULILLAH, I knew that she could do it no matter how daunting it might sound. I took her as a big challenge as I knew I had to keep her motivated and inspired without which shed lose interest. As Writing was where she struggled most, I told her to focus more on Writing than on Speaking and other modules. She kept practising, writing an essay every other day, following my structures and vocabulary blindly, going through my previous essays again and again. I know she hasnt scored 7 in each yet. But in the test of 8 March 2014, she has scored 7, 7 and 7.5 in Listening, Reading and Writing respectively failing only in Speaking, while she scored 7 in Speaking a few times before. In fact, Im not much excited because this is the closest shes ever got; Im rather excited and happy because she hasnt failed in her last 3 Academic Writing tests, scoring 7.5, 7 and 7.5 consecutively. This is a great feat Im proud of as much as she is, if not more. And In shaa Allah, that day is not far, Aman, when Ill write another big post on your success. Im sure, Aman wouldnt have even tried for 7 each, if she hadnt come to me. Now when she achieves the score, gets registered as a Nurse and becomes a permanent resident, how fascinating would that be? Im eagerly awaiting that very moment. [AND THAT MOMENT HAS COME AS YOU ALL KNOW SHE SUCCEEDED LAST WEEK] I cant explain in words how proud I feel when students attain their desired score from my place after so many failed attempts with other places that run coaching centres without much expertise and knowledge about the IELTS testing system. If youre reading this post of mine for the first time, this is the Facebook page/group of our centre, namely, IELTS COACHING ALBION that is located in Melbourne. And Im the teacher who has a Bachelor degree in English literature, has 15 years teaching experience and above all, has an amazing score of 9 in all modules in IELTS. [RECENTLY, I HAVE SCORED 9 IN PTE ACADEMIC AS WELL]. Im quite aware that as Im holidaying overseas (Bangladesh) at the moment, many of you are missing me and finding IELTS preparation not only boring and tasteless, but also arduous and cumbersome. Dont worry guys. In shaa Allah, our centre will reopen on 5 May 2014 and the classes will resume in full swing. Although Im enjoying every moment with my family here, I can feel a sense of emptiness and meaninglessness without my Coaching Centre and my beloved buddhu students. And Im really grateful to Allah that He has chosen me for this noble profession.
