I Will Make Nigeria Work – Buhari The All Progressives Congress, (APC) candidate in next month’s presidential election, General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd), has identified insecurity and lack of employment opportunities as the major problems facing the nation. Buhari, who addressed APC members and his admirers at a rally at Emmaus House field, Awka, the Anambra State capital yesterday accompanied by his running mate, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, APC national chairman, chief John Oyegun, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Governors Rotimi Amaechi and Rochas Okorocha of Rivers and Imo states respectively, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige, Senator Osita Izunaso and Chief George Muoghalu, stated that corruption had eaten too deep into the Nigerian system and pledged that, if elected president, he would make Nigeria work. His administration, he pledged, would revolutionise the agricultural sector, provide infrastructure, improve the standard of education and establish vital institutions that would drive the socio-economic and technological development policies and programmes that would turn-around the decay in the country. He stated that if the country had a leadership that is visionary and has the interest of the masses at heart, there would not have been the current insurgency in the North-east, kidnapping and armed robbery in the Eastern Nigeria and the level of hunger and infrastructural decay prevailing across the country. He urged every registered voter in Nigeria to ensure that they procure their Permanent Voters Cards, (PVC) and make sure as well that they cast their votes during the election and insist on the vote being counted. Earlier in his speech Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State urged Ndigbo to discountenance the propaganda that Buhari would Islamise Nigeria if elected president, insisting that those behind the propaganda are simply those afraid that if Buhari becomes president, he would not only send to jail all those who have perpetrated corruption in the country but stamp out the malaise totally. Okorocha stated that the choice of Buhari as presidential candidate was made after a critical and painstaking search and assessment of antecedents, conducts and character of the various persons who indicated interest stating that Buhari has the capacity to give Nigeria the quality leadership that would re-write her current woes.
