I Will Never Forget by Elaine C Pereria I want to thank the author for bringing a memoir to the table that was informative, humorous and very heartfelt all at once reviews Manic Mama of 2 Dementia is something that touches close to home with me. Even though my family wanted to keep it a secret, we all knew that my grandmother suffered with this before she passed a year ago. Reading this book was a great reminder that people really do struggle with this ailment. I don’t like to call it a disease because I don’t think that dementia kills you. It hinders you from reality and the one that you should/could be living. I loved the way this story was told because it was like I was in the room listening to the author speak to me on the subject and how she felt about her deceased mother. The author did not exaggerate and she didn’t lead you on throughout the novel. She was blunt and straight forward and I really appreciated that. People in my family never discussed my grandmother’s dementia. I am not sure if it was because they didn’t want it to be happening or they wanted to give us a different woman to remember when she did finally pass. Either way, I am a little disappointed that I had to figure everything out on my own about her personality disorder. This memoir was touching and I loved it. I am not sure that there are many people who know what it’s like to have a loved one with dementia, but even if you don’t have a relative that suffers, you will get a lot from this novel. The author describes her mother as she used to be and then takes on the task of describing how she has changed. The memories that you get to relive with her are easy because she gives so much detail. You really feel like you know her and her mother on a personal level. This novel was honestly kind of like closure to my situation that I had wondering what my grandmother may have been going through. I want to thank the author for bringing a memoir to the table that was informative, humorous and very heartfelt all at once.
