I Wish I had Kissed my Grandpa. Last night I was out for dinner - TopicsExpress

I Wish I had Kissed my Grandpa. Last night I was out for dinner with my grandson Henry (age 2) and his parents. He was a great dinner companion and ate slowly but with dedication and seemed to enjoy himself. At the end of the meal we went outside and his mother said Henry, give your grandfather a kiss. He immediately threw me a kiss and said Pop but then he kissed me on both cheeks. I kissed him back, smitten by this sweet boy. It reminded me that I didnt remember kissing my grandfather Dayton. He was a great man but it was a different era. Men didnt kiss men that much, even little boys. In retrospect, that was a mistake because I am sure his heart would have been melted like mine was last night. I learned to kiss men much later when traveling in Europe. My recently departed friend Filiep taught me the famous Belgian kiss; that is one on the right, then the left, and then back on the right. I never saw him that he didnt greet me that way and I learned it. Now it is second nature to me and I kiss many people. My granddaughters kiss me (Avah 2 and Raya 4) frequently and it also melts my heart. One feels the link to immortality when in the presence of our grandkids. I know that my ancestors are proud in the afterlife of the great kids and grandkids I have. life is good.
