I absolutely LOVE our house built in 1850 with a slate roof on most of the house and all of the carriage house. However, over the kitchen and the front porch, it has an old composite roof and today when I got home from school in the back staircase/hallway, a huge chunk of plaster, lath and roof had collapsed into the stairwell. Makes me sad to see the house leaking like that, we have been pounded by tons of rain, but this has been going on for years from the looks of the pile of debris.......sigh........
