I absolutely hate Jersey City Medical Center......back in August I gave social services a copy of the POA which legally gives me access to all my Uncles medical records/information. All was fine when he was in for his hip replacement in January. Apparently with his latest 2 hospitalizations no one has bothered to check his records which contain the POA. I was told that I am not on the list for information. Excuse me but I AM THE LIST!!!!! It has taken me 3 days, numerous calls and intervention from social services to get this straightened out. I now need to call back for more information. The crazy thing is that social services wants me to make decisions about his future placements once stabilized without letting me review his records. I apologize to my relatives in the healthcare field and I am more than aware of HIPPA being an early intervention teacher but I do not know how much more of this I can stand!!!!
