I admit that I did check up on the Kpop-lookalike contest a couple - TopicsExpress

I admit that I did check up on the Kpop-lookalike contest a couple of times today just to see the contestants since its my first time to witness the progression of a contest like this. At one point, the thought of joining even crossed my mind. Maybe because I felt alienated by the fact that everyone seems to know how the process works and I havent got a clue how. I must say, I feel quite appalled at some peoples behavior toward the participants. They mock, insult and belittle them. Yes, given the fact that the participants consensually and knowingly participated in a contest like this, it still doesnt give people the right to besmirch them. Its like saying that its okay to insult someone openly because they deserve it for being way over their heads. In my opinion, its not justifiable. Dont take this the wrong way, I also think that some contestants dont look like who they are trying to portray but Ill keep that to myself. Its okay to criticize them but be sure that these criticisms will eventually help them be better. You dont need to be mean when you state that you disagree. Give constructive criticisms if you must. You dont need to insult, mock and belittle them. In my opinion, statements that intend to cause emotional harm to each of these contestants for the sake of boosting your own deteriorating self-esteem and be funny at the same time are unethical. If youre one of those people who feels a boost of self-worth and self-esteem after seeing someone emotionally scathed, then youre a despicable human being. Thats just my opinion tho. Just like what one of our professors once told us, Whats moral to me may be immoral to you. Whats moral to you may be immoral to me.
