I adopted Moon just over 14 months ago. She died very suddenly on 7/4/14. She and I had driven down to New York to see my family. Because of a family obligation, she had to spend a night in a kennel, so when my dad picked her up and she was listless and not eating, we all figured it was just stress from all the commotion. I mean, she was drinking and eliminating and didnt show any signs of serious distress. The next day, she was dead just under two months before what would have been her 5th birthday. She got a clean bill of health not ten weeks ago. The vet determined there was a pericardial effusion, or fluid around her heart, but nobody knows why (cancer is about a 50/50). Ive lost pets before, but I could always tell myself that theyd had a good long life; Moon died SO young and SO suddenly. She was supposed to be spending a fun week with my dad being spoiled, and I had to find out on the road that she just died out of nowhere. Suddenly, that morning I dropped her off at the kennel is the last memory Ill ever have of her. She was supposed to die at 14, not 4. I cant even deal with this. I cant go home without her there. This wasnt supposed to happen.
