I agree with my buddy James over at James Tripp Coaching here in how a deserving mindset holds people back. AND, at the same time, I think there may be a wisdom in the discomfort people feel with this. To be paid so much to entertain says much more about the viewers than it does about the entertainers. The word entertain originally meant to be held in place or to to maintain in a certain condition. What greater purpose do television sitcoms with laugh tracks and feeble narratives have than to hold people in place and to maintain people in a certain condition so that they will be subjected to advertising by those who fund the enter-tainment? The fact that so many millions of people are desperate to be entertained in this way is more of a problem for humanity than a few people being paid millions of dollars is. I think there is a deeply sensed not-rightness here that people are interpreting as entertainers not deserving to be paid so much. In a way, the complaints are a projection of the complainers own frustration with being maintained in a certain condition.
