I almost avoided watching the news or checking social media today because of the conversations about suicide that I knew would be taking place. Often, people having unknowingly punched me in the gut with their opinions on this topic. Dont worry, I wont come apart if I talk about this and love the opportunity to share. Ive learned to deal with it & expect it when a tragedy like this happens. However, many people havent learned to cope yet, many children who have lost someone they loved. I can still clearly hear the words of a Godly man who spoke his beliefs loudly from a pulpit not knowing that a 13 year old girl whose daddy had just committed suicide was in the congregation. I dont believe preachers should tip toe around tough topics but Knowing the heart of this man, I dont believe the same words would have come out of his mouth had he known who was listening that day. We really need to be aware of someones situation before we open our mouths. Dont complain about your job, when someone who was laid off may be in your audience. We rarely know the full impact our words have on others. Choose them wisely. Today has been amazing to see some of the positive conversations happening from a terrible loss. Be sure to tell the people God puts in your space tomorrow how awesome they are.
