I almost liked this article. I wanted to like it. But it bothers me that it talks about how those with low self esteem dont seem to be able to reframe a situation. Why does that have to come into play for a persons feelings to be allowable? Why is the ability to reframe perceived as one of the only healthy ways to deal with something? What is so wrong about feeling whatever we feel? It puts a negative label on something I think can be a positive thing for anyone - which is to feel whatever the heck it is you are feeling. I would guess those who are depressed the longest may be the ones who are less likely to feel able to feel and acknowledge what they are truly feeling. The more I express myself and allow myself whatever is going on, the easier it is for me to move through what I feel. I move through things much more quickly than I used to. But the key is MOVING THROUGH, not skirting, not reframing, not changing, nor denying. ALLOWING. Allowing ourselves and others in our life to be however they are - without feeling a need to correct or fix anything, or inherently seeing anything perceptually as negative as a problem is an incredible gift.
