I almost missed this film because it barely had any shows in my city, I had plans to catch it much later but Amy Adams recent Golden Globe win for this film pushed me to catch one of the few shows, and I am very glad for it. Tim Burton is crazy, and I say that with utmost respect. Who thinks its a good idea to make films about a boy who has scissors for hands, a barber who kills and sings, a B grade movie director from the 50s and other over the top crazy characters? I dont know how accurate Big Eyes is, I have yet to do some research here but I think it may just be my favorite biographical drama of the season (yes even though the heavyweights like The Theory of Everything and The Imitation Game are yet to be released). This is because its just too damn fun, the film is so crazy and funny all the while portraying struggle of a wife trying to find her identity when her husband passes off her art as his own. Amy Adams as Margret Keane is a shy, insecure, talented artist who is a single mother who falls in love with Christoph Waltzs Walter who is charming, confident, big talker but talent-less artist/real estate agent. Walter is not only manipulative but is also smart enough to change the way art is accessed by the common masses he is the perfect salesman for art, this brings Keanes a lot of wealth and prosperity but Margret starts questioning Walters practices while become more confident of her art and her life while Walter starts descending to madness. While Amy Adams is great in this film, Christoph Waltz is a revelation, he is so over the top he matches Tim Burtons loony-ness step for step, his role reminds me a lot of his Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds, a very Jekyll and Hyde performance with multiple facets. Dont miss this one guys. https://youtube/watch?v=2xD9uTlh5hI
