I already believed this, but reading what Pope Francis said still - TopicsExpress

I already believed this, but reading what Pope Francis said still sent a warm thrill through me. I wasnt going to share the news of my recent loss because, well, because it made me too sad. I lost my Rita last week. My bad, bad Rita who thought her name was RitaIAmGoingToKillYou! Muttiest little black dog you ever saw in all your days. My son rescued her off a highway in Austin, TX, when she was naught but a wriggling black whisper. She hated other dogs, but she loved people. I tried so hard to adopt her out, but no one wanted her. So I wanted her. She was our Choir Master. Yes, she loved to sing, and she could hold a note for so long that her lips turned blue. Sirens set her a-singin, but so did Old McDonald Had a Farm. If I started singing that song, Rita would chime in from wherever she happened to be in the house. As she died in my arms last week, I sang Old McDonald Had a Farm to her. It was the last thing she heard. Her favorite song. Now she is buried in the backyard with a can of her favorite food and a rosary. Yes, I held a Mass for her. Okay, not a Mass for real, but a religious ceremony. In keeping with the holiness of the moment I began to sing Immaculate Mary. Always loved that song, but before I knew it I was singing Old McDonald again. And I swear to all yall that a beautiful dog voice joined me. I miss you, Rita.
