I always believed that ANC members are encouraged by the Constitution and Code of Conduct to exercise self restraint, to defend the organisation through superior arguments and not by violence, physical force, fights, skirmishes or brawls. Its worse when thus behaviour is displayed by those who occupy the highest ranks amongst us. When young people say they must be deployed to Parliament to go and my fight the EFF physically, its us who must caution them of even thinking of doing such things. It should not be us that lead them in bad behaviour and by bad examples that its ok to go down to the lowest levels to want to engage physically with others, even when they provoke us to intolerable levels. Our defence should always be in the superiority of our policies and our arguments. We cant be dancing with pigs in the mud to show them that we are equally, if not more vulger and rough more than them. What must the people and the world say and think of us today? Where is the deterrent for physicality and vulgerity amongst us?, when does this deterrent kick in?, at what level of our organisations must the detent kick in? No wonder our conferences degenerate into episodes of violent fights, we are led by example from the top to behave in such a manner.
