I always enjoy good dinner conversations and this holiday weekend one of my dinner guest was so struck by what I shared regarding the connection bewteen epilepsy and gluten and thought you might find it interesting too! Here is a link to 38 studies for your friend regarding seizures and Gluten Sensitivity. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=glutenAND+seizures IF someone has this sensitivity, and IF their vulnerable area of the body (the weak link in their chain) where the inflammation from gluten exposure will manifest is the temporal or occipital lobes of the brain (the weak link could be anywhere), then recurrent seizures may be the symptoms they have. Even drug-resistant seizures. For example, here is a quote from one of the studies (#10) of patients with intractable seizures. In all patients gluten free diet not only provided drug free control of seizures but also helped correct other features of malabsorption like hypocalcaemia and anemia as the primary pathology behind these symptoms was corrected. Do you for someone you care about suffer from epilepsy, this would be something I recommend reading about.
