I always hear people in Cambodia mispronouncing the vowel “A”. The letter “A” in English can make many different sounds. Of course it can make the sound “អេ” like in “ape” or “angel”, BUT IT CAN ALSO MAKE THE SOUND “អា” like in “apple”. This is called a short “a”. Don’t say រ៉េប for Rap ! Say រ៉ាប instead, it’s closer to the correct pronunciation. Don’t say Price ថេក lol ! Here’s a list of other short “a” words I can think of (ត្រូវអាន “អា” មិនមែន “អេ” ទេ) : cat, fat, hat, mat, tan, fan, back, black, mad, sad, bag, add, at, glad, map… Ok guys, don’t be “mad” “at” me, because I just want to help te. :)
