I always wondered what would happen if women sued the government - TopicsExpress

I always wondered what would happen if women sued the government for several centuries worth of forced labor as home makers. I mean women are not even covered in the original Bill of Rights, None of our founding fathers considered that women would someday be sitting in real governmental roles. Does that mean that women could claim reparations? When I hear people talk about going back the original constitution, I shudder. Every civil liberty gained or enjoyed by women or people who are not white land owners had to be shoehorned into the damn thing. Maybe we should be discussing a constitutional convention, one where the core language can be agreed to read: any human of any belief, gender, or origin has the right to pursue happiness, the right to face their accusers, and the right to be free of oppression. Oppression should then be defined: any aggressive action taken towards an individual or group that is designed to limit their ability to pursue happiness without causing harm to others.
