I am Bruce Davis, I am a independent candidate for Lincoln County Commissioner. Way a Independent? So that I can be free to choose and decide with a clear mind and end partiality. I moved to Lincoln county in 1966 with my parents, after graduating at Star Valley High in 1968 I went to school and work out of state, I married Betty Burton of Afton in 1969, in 1971 Betty and I moved back to Lincoln county and stayed ever since. We have 7 living children. We live in Auburn, Wyo. I’ve been a general manager of a major subdivision and H.O.A. for over25 years. I am licensed as a Chief Water Operator since 1981 with the state of Wyo. I am also a licensed Wyoming Real Estate Agent. Over the course of many years I have always had a concern for the well being and safety of the people and the children of our communities, more than most people will ever know. I have done a lot of community service for them in my own ways. I built and operated the public swimming pool north of Afton for 12 years until we shut it down due to health reasons. I’ve been a scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America twice and an assistance scoutmaster once over the course of many years. I owned and operate a general construction business since 1973. As a general contractor and a business man, I’ve learned how to work with and deal with thousands of people, home owners, dozens of cities, counties, state and federal agencies over these many years. I’ve learned how to make business, people and government agencies work together to get things done. My knowledge and skills of business and working with people and governmental agencies, I feel could be a great asset for our county. I feel that a good commissioner needs to be a good communicator with people and have a good knowledge of business practices and governmental laws and codes, and how the County Commission operates, to be a good decision maker, to be an effective leader, of which I feel I am. Over the years I’ve got involved in the political arena not to be in the spot lights or for the money, but because I felt that the Citizens and the County Commissioners have become disconnected. People became tired of Commissioners not listening to them, not standing up for their rights, over taxing them, over regulating everything we do, and over spending. People are saying that they have had enough and want a change. They know that reelecting incumbents are not a change, things will just remain the same(more taxes, more spending, more regulations, more abuse of power). We have to change our attitudes towards new leadership. I will be that change when elected. I want to run the county differently. I want to involve the people in all of my decision making, I want the people to be inform and up to date in all that the Commission is doing, in the chambers and out, I want all the people from Alpine to Labarge and everywhere in-between to have trust in me that I will represent them fairly and unbiased, no matter who they are or where they are from, all treated equally. I will be a Commissioner that will be ruled by my own code of ethics, which are: (1) Listen to the citizens: ( listen to both sides of the issues, investigate the issues thoroughly , take the time necessary to make a wise decision, explain why I made my decision.) (2) Involved the citizens: ( go to the citizens that I think are wise about issues coming up and get their opinions about it to help me to make a wiser decision,) (3) Inform the citizens: (I will advertise in newspapers or radio, besides the commissioner web site, what I and the Commission are doing, where I will be, what my agenda is for the week, send time in each community that is necessary for them.) (4) Limit close door meetings: (5) Show respect and courtesy to all citizens in our meetings. (6) Have Town meetings: ( to hold town meetings in every town every 2 to 3 months ) (7) Stop favoritism and partiality: ( have all large jobs done by closed bids only, and small jobs be done by list of qualified people previously screened to do county jobs) (8) Work to lower taxes: (Commissioners can lower the mill levy, it is at 12 mills when it used to be 8 mills. There is ways to cut this back with cutting wasteful spending and without cutting county employees) (9) Economic development: ( use the power and influence of County Commissioner to encourage new industries to located in Lincoln County, which will create new jobs for our people and children in the future) (10) Will not be supported of pay raises to the commissioners and administrators while I am in office. I am your choice for change in the county commission, I want to be your servant of trust, but to be your Commissioner I need you to Vote for me on Nov. 2 Bruce Davis, brucedavis@silverstar 1-307-248-0437
