I am Ryan Vargas from Riverside, California. I went to World Youth Day in both 2011 and 2013. I loved both but they were very different. I would say that in Madrid, my faith was transformed, it was no longer my parents faith put on me, but a faith of my own, finally starting to blossom. In Rio my faith grew so much. I credit it all to the amazing love of the Brazilian people and the other pilgrims! I could feel the barriers of race, culture, and language shattered by the awesome power of the Eucharist. Being on Copacabana during Adoration changed my life. 3.5 million people and dead silence, everyone in awe of our savior Jesus Christ present with is in the form of the Eucharist. Above are my 2 host families from the holy city of São Jose dos Campos and Rio de Janiero! And my personal favorite photo, in from of the Popes restroom at São Sebastian Cathedral! My faith was born anew at World Youth Day! My life would be incomplete without it and without the support of my brothers and sisters in Spain and Brasil! #wydmemories
