I am SO proud of Rosenberg Police Department, AND thrilled to say that I have been accepted into their Citizens Police Academy program, which is starting soon. Quoting: Due to the growth of retail development over the past few years, the Rosenberg Police Department has seen an increase of shoplifting. As a Department, we have taken an oath to protect your property from people who want to prey on the innocent, hard working people and businesses. As part of an initiative to keep the public informed of alleged shoplifters, recently charged for the offense of theft (shoplifting), we are introducing a new series called “Rosenberg’s Most Unwanted Shoplifters.” We feel knowledge is power…if store managers and loss prevention personnel are informed they can better protect their property from theft. Our goal is to be transparent to the public, and work WITH the community to help reduce crime..... Our advice to store personnel: if you are observing shoplifting in your store, contact the Rosenberg Police Department immediately at 832-595-3700. We will require you to provide a detailed description of the suspect and what you believe they have taken. We will in most cases, request you allow the suspect to leave the store, where officers will then take it from that point. We will require a statement of desired prosecution. Understand, that regardless of the value of the stolen item(s) we WILL ARREST IN MOST CASES. You will also have the right to issue a criminal trespass warning to the subject(s) banning them from returning to your store in the future. Thank you for your great support… RPD
