I am So Excited, I Can Hardly Wait For This Saturday Morning To Finally Arrive! :) I purchased one of those new mountain bikes from some on line out fit (Ill explain who, a little later) over the Christmas holiday season, which at long last I discovered had arrived (but to my great disappointment, via Fed X, of all the non union carriers), on my door step late Monday after noon. Someone Said To Me: Mike, You Have Been Especially Naughty This Past Year! The original reason I decided to purchaser the bike in the first place, was simply because I have been told by you know who. . ., I didnt deserve anything from her, for Christmas, due to the fact, as she put it, quote: Mike, you have been especially naughty this past year! unquote. :( The other reason I decided to purchase the bike, was to demonstrate to you know who (challenging as it turned out to be), that I was perfectly capable of going on line and charging anything I wanted on her credit card if I was so inclined to do so! :) Slow And Tedious Work, Nuts, Bolts, Crushed Boxes And Opened Plastic Packets Ive been slowly and carefully putting my new mountain bike together these past couple of days, however, after all my tedious work, Im not quite sure Ive yet to receive all the parts from. . . It now appears to me anyway, that a couple of brackets; one for the front, and possibly the other for the rear wheel assembly?, that should have come in one of the crushed boxes, as well as a few very specialized nuts and bolts that may hold a portion of the frame together?, along with the assembly instructions, are also missing from one of the already partially opened and severely torn plastic hardware packets. Made In China, Distributed And Sold Through Walmart, But The Price Was Right! ? Remember, I said above, that I would disclose to you who I purchased the bike From? Oh well; what can you expect these days from a fly by night, non union, here today and gone tomorrow (well theyre not gone just yet) Chinese manufacturing company, that Walmart does all their business with? After all, lifes not perfect you know, and even though its our world, even the great Wally World, can not make it a perfect world. . . :) A Hope And A Plan, On A Wing And A Prayer, Plus A New Life Insurance Policy Because of the many missing bicycle parts, and of course the dangerously complicated looking mountain ride, I also purchased (on you know whos credit card, hahaha) a larger than life, new life insurance policy to cover and care for, you guessed it; you know who, just in case things dont go quite as well as I have hoped, planned and of course prayed about. One must at least have those four things well thought through and covered before taking on such a physically demanding and precarious event; a hope, a plan, a prayer, and a large life insurance policy, but not necessarily in that exact order. Oh, and we must not forget all those missing parts! When Hopes And Plans Dont Come Together; Prevention Trumps Apprehension In addition, I have naturally taken the intelligent, common sense A.B.C. color coded approach and precaution of reserving an ambulance to be standing by on site just for me of course, for this coming Saturdays ride, in the event I survive the fall, which I have calculated I will inevitably encounter. Over the many years of my life, I have learned the hard way that prevention always trumps apprehension. :) So, with all the above finally perfectly stated, this coming Saturday, bright and early (1:00 pm. EST.) I will be riding my new and partially put together, Chinese made, Walmart distributed and Fed X delivered bike, over the rickety wooden mountain trail seen in the video, over hanging the steep, jagged edged, cliff directly below. If George H. W. Bush Can Jump From A Helicopter, I Can Certainly Ride A Bike! ? After all, at my age why not finally Go For It and really do something completely nutty and dangerous! If George H. W. Bush, who is twenty years my senior, can parachute from a helicopter and successfully land in his back yard, without even the slightest injury, not even a scratch, then the very least I can do is a little mountain biking, right?
