I am VERY encouraged by today’s progress on the Camp Minden - TopicsExpress

I am VERY encouraged by today’s progress on the Camp Minden issue! Both Senator Vitter and Congressman Fleming called this afternoon with great interest in this ongoing situation here in District 10...and they are ready to do more. First, I have to say that this is the first time I have been this encouraged about politics in a while. This incident has brought thousands of people from varying political mindsets together on one issue—and for the first time since my election to this position I am witnessing how party politics CAN be pushed aside for the greater good. We are uniting and that gives me great hope! I am extremely proud of the Concerned Citizens group and all of the elected officials who are coming together because of your voice. Now, here is the outcome of today’s efforts: - US Senator Vitter and Congressman Fleming have both committed to be on tomorrow’s call themselves, in addition to your State representation. - US Senator Vitter has written a detailed records and data request to the EPA and has asked me to push it out as wide-reaching as possible (attached below) - Additional state agency leads and elected officials were invited today to call in tomorrow. - This Concerned Citizens group has better organized and committed to work with us in a strategic fashion as the voice of the public—and I commend you! Please widely share the attached letter. Tomorrow, we will be asking the EPA for these documents and data verbally for discussion; and we are prepared with the next steps to take depending on how they respond to our requests and expectations for compromise. We will give the EPA the opportunity to do the right thing by us; and in the event they don’t, it’ll be our signal to follow the lead of Bruce Willis in “Tears of the Sun” and get ready to “Cowboy…. Up” and press onward with other approaches. Thanks again for your interest, support, and persistence! Stay tuned and do your part to follow the lead of this group in your personal actions, calls, letters, and messages!
