I am a Masters student at the Yale School of Forestry seeking a field assistant for the summer of 2014. I am looking for someone to help with my research at the Yale Myers Forest in northeastern Connecticut where I will be conducting a bird survey to examine bird species diversity and abundance in mulit-aged shelterwood stands. Responsibilities will include assisting me with bird point counts 5-6 mornings a week from May 7 to July 5 (dates are slightly flexible) and helping with a vegetation survey if interested. Food and lodging will be provided at the research station. I am also able to offer a stipend. Applicants should be familiar with Connecticut bird identification, and have their own binoculars. Prior experience conducting bird surveys is desired but not necessary. Enthusiasm and a strong work ethic are the also very valuable. Anyone who has questions or would like to apply to the position should please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with a resume and a short paragraph on why they are interested.
