I am a day early but my heart feels eager to speak of the last 21 years of my life.... I was a 19 year old kid when my son, Erik Michael Hutto, joined my world. He arrived with a full head of beautiful red hair - which shagged over his tiny ears. Peculiar was that he was the spitting image of this red headed baby on the cover of a parenting magazine. I held onto this magazine; was drawn to it and found myself visualizing my boy looking like him! Erik was such a pretty baby that people called him a her - despite the fact that he was decked out in (very) boy attire!! He definitely fit the Red-Head stereo type as he was feisty, determined - yet loveable. Erik has been a star football player (exhibit 1: see pic of him escaping the Giant). Hes been an awesome big brother who once threw the big bully into a muddy ditch for pushing his baby sister! And hes been the Best Son a Mom could ever have!! I am so proud of you, Erik. For your heart of pure gold, your determination, your morality and loyalty, your ability to keep on dreaming and just for being you.
