I am a dog rescuer & I am a dog trainer & some days being one makes me the other. Today for example, I had a friend whos husband left her 3 days ago, she is 17 weeks pregnant & a mother to a toddler call me in tears & told me she was taking their people aggressive German Shepherd to the shelter. She physically could NOT handle him, he had drug her down more than once & she couldnt risk hurting the baby. I told her to bring him here. She gets here & the dog is EXTREMELY fear aggressive & wanted to eat me alive. 30 min later he was in my lap & wanting a belly rub. She is now able to control him & she knows he needs a LOT of positive association with people but she & I both know I saved this dogs life. He wouldve never made it out of the shelter because no person or rescue wouldve taken him. Added to the long list of reasons why I love my job!
