I am a great minister, I’m a great Life-Coach and a great teacher. You, you are a great photographer, a great wedding planner, a great florist, a great DJ and a great musician. But guess what, we are not the only ones. We are not the only ones that are great, and right behind us, there is a long line of people waiting to step into their own greatness. As we enjoy the rewards of our greatness we must never loose sight of the “Great Equalizer”. Sometimes greatness tends to think that it and it alone is responsible for its expression. In order to be great one must believe in themselves, in their ability and talents, but one must never forget that no one makes it to the top alone. Those who have reached the top are being held up by others who believe in them. It is arrogant to think that you and you alone are responsible for your achievements. Take caution not to rest on your laurels, do not allow your accolades and the impermanence of your current status to trick you into thinking and believing in your own hype. The “Great Equalizer” will give you opportunity after opportunity to merit and deserve your admiration. Humility is the “Great Equalizer”, it is always extending its hand, inviting you to even greater heights. Humility recognizes that who you are and what you’ve accomplished has been a privilege bestowed upon you. Lack of humility will choke the oxygen out of your experience and bring you to your knees. The stench of arrogance will linger on long after you are gone. The final line in your story will read, “a legend, but only in their own mind”. Stay humble my friends, stay humble!
