I am a lucky guy. My luck started in 1956, my mother, brother and I were scheduled to come to America on the Andrea Doria. My dad was not ready for us so we posponed the trip and came across on the Christopher Columbus. The Andrea Doria sank. Out of high school I was in the first Draft Lottery. They called the first 150 dates. We went to the induction center and were prepared to be drafted. I had the good fortune to meet my brothers good friend Richie Shultz and we rode the bus over to oakland together. They actually drafted up to number 125.....I was number 129. This month I will be celebrating my 39th year of marriage to a wonderful woman....amazing someone was able to put up with me for so long....Two great kids, a cool son inlaw, great nephew, who has a sweet wife and cute new baby girl...a brother who I love......and the entire Cowan clan who have made my life so much more fullfiled.....I have crashed into trees, with cars and bikes....run off the road on skates while doing almost 20mph, fallen off ladders....etc....And I am still here.....gonna drop a couple of dead trees on my property and I am putting together my scaffold for this years re-sealing of the cabin.....My guardian angel is still working overtime...
