I am a man of scientific thought, both by education and vocation. - TopicsExpress

I am a man of scientific thought, both by education and vocation. I harbor no dogma or belief in the reality of a God or a pantheon of gods. I believe in only the Non-Dual Absolute Truth. The Absolute cannot admit anything except Itself. This conviction is neither scientific nor religious. I locate myself in the center of this compass. It is irrelevant whether one agrees with me on this matter or not. I, for one, do not believe that scientific thought is antagonistic in the strictest sense to religious proclivity. By the former I consider it to be one which will always remain provisional, grounded on independently verifiable fact, capable of making predictions within its context, and open to integrating all sources of knowledge. By the latter I mean convictions and beliefs of a subject kind, grounded in ones individual experience and expressed objectively in form of rituals and vocalised beliefs, and not capable of being verified in the context of the former. I exclude from both completely and wholly all matters pertaining to speculation not based on any self-evident body of knowledge, behavior leading to both individual and social dysfunction and chaos of moral predicates as commonly judged of negative value content by the social organ. Having situated both thoughts in a manner as above (and I assert it cannot be situated in any other way), the only thing remaining to be done before taking the next step is merely to acknowledge, not necessarily agree, that both scientific thought and religious prescriptions are incomplete in themselves. It is not necessary one should admonish the other or accept in any manner whatsoever the world-views of the other party. The mere recognition of incompleteness within itself on both sides is sufficient reason to halt useless debates which only attempt to find the horns of a non-existing hare, or for Ka-Ching. To finish, here is a quote from Einstein from The Universe and Dr. Einstein: The most beautiful and profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true sciences. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest Wisdom and the most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their most primitive forms - this Knowledge, this Feeling is at the center of true religiousness. In Sanskrit there is a term called vinodhaya cittam. It means a mind that wonders. A more deeper meaning is that it is only the sharpest of intellects that can truly capture the meaning of Wonder. I sit in the next room. Which side of the table are you on? #r #Scribblings
