I am a proud liberal who embraces that word. I am what they used to call a Yellow Dog Democrat. I believe in voting for the party not the person. I cannot imagine anything short of taking a member of my family hostage that would make me vote for a Republican. Having said that, I am embarrassed at the current crop of Democratic candidates. Rather than embrace the achievements of the Obama Administration they are so terrified of being identified with a president because his poll numbers are weak that they cant even mention his name. Thats why I think a thumping at the polls could be a good thing. It will make the Democrats a more progressive party in preparation for not only the presidential but congressional races in 2016. And it will give the Republicans nowhere to hide from their empty agenda. We may have to live with Mitch McConnell and John Boehner for a couple of years for the greater good.
